AAPT delivers $2,000 worth of hope to Breakfast on the Beach

01/02/2006 09:00
Ahead of Wollongong’s biggest charity breakfast, Breakfast on the Beach, AAPT will kick-start the fundraising with a donation of $2,000.

To be delivered this Thursday in the back of one of the AAPT SmartCars, the generous donation will consist of 2,000 gold coins which will greatly assist organisers reach their fundraising target of $10,000.

Last year the community event raised over $8,500 for Care Australia’s Tsunami Appeal. This year, the charity being supported is Angels of Hope, a local based charity focused on suicide prevention and mental health issues administered by South East Area Health.

Now in its 28th year Breakfast on the Beach, which takes place this Sunday, is a fun charity event aimed at raising funds for local charity groups. Illawarriors are asked to donate a gold coin and in return receive a fully cooked breakfast consisting of cereal, sausages, bacon, eggs and fruit administered by the Rotary Club of Wollongong.

Wendy Gee – General Manager of WaveFM and co-ordinator of Breakfast on the Beach says, “We are extremely grateful to companies such as AAPT along with everyone involved in pulling the event together. With preparations almost in place, it’s shaping up to be a fun morning for the whole community and a significant day for Angels of Hope.”

Along with sponsoring the WaveFM broadcast, on the day AAPT will also be giving everyone at Breakfast on the Beach the chance to win a trip to Daydream Island Resort & Spa for a family of four as part of its “Extend your Summer” promotion. The prize includes return flights to Daydream Island, 5 nights’ accommodation at Daydream Island’s luxury resort, daily breakfast and transfers. Enter by filling out an entry form and returning it to the AAPT/WaveFM marquee situated adjacent to the North Beach Surf Club, Wollongong.

AAPT will also be handing out lots of goodies at Breakfast on the Beach including tote bags, caps, temporary tattoos and balloons along with the ‘Itty Bitty Book of Broadband’ which cuts through the complicated plans, jargon and broadband terminology that puts many Australians off getting started on broadband.

AAPT has directly addressed these issues with a new broadband deal that offers no term contracts, $0 set up costs on self installation plans and a free modem. The deal, available to full service (local and long distance) customers, includes 512k speed and 12,000 MB for only $39 broadband access per month. Be sure to pick up your copy from the AAPT/WaveFM marquee on the day.
