AAPT Brisbane Lions fans asked to roar for World Vision

17/08/2006 09:00
The World Vision 40 Hour Famine kicks off this weekend coinciding with the AAPT Brisbane Lions playing the second-placed West Coast Eagles at the Gabba.

Thanks to major sponsor AAPT, Brisbane Lions fans can support the 40 Hour Famine by donating a gold coin and having their face painted while cheering on the Lions at their home ground for one of the last games this season. Tim Costello, CEO of World Vision, will also toss the coin at the match before the AAPT Brisbane Lions take to the field.

AAPT are a long standing supporter of World Vision, donating over $340,000 to World Vision for relief efforts after the 2004 Asia Tsunami. Tim Costello said “Thanks to AAPT for their support and partnering with us in what is sure to be a very exiting game. It is fantastic that Brisbane Lions fans are able to have a day out at the footy and also help those less fortunate than ourselves. Every $40 raised in this years 40 Hour Famine will help feed and care for eight children for a month in East Timor and Southern Africa. “

Stuart Hilton, Communications Manager at AAPT says “We’re delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause as World Vision, particularly given that this weekend’s Lions’ home game coincides with the 40 Hour Famine. We’re sure Lions’ fans will get behind the 40 Hour Famine this weekend and help those living in much less fortunate circumstances than ourselves.”

At the Gabba on match day, AAPT staff will be handing out entry forms for the ‘Gotta get to the AFL Grand Final’ photo competition, which gives Queensland based Lions fans the chance to win 4 x AFL Grand Final tickets (including flights and accommodation). The winner of the photo competition will be determined by online voting. There will also be the opportunity for one lucky Queenslander to win an AFL Grand Final party including a flat screen TV with food and drinks for 20 mates.
